Beauty and the beast

The waste is everywhere on the streets of Budapest today.

Everybody received a letter at home some days ago asking us to put all the stuff we wont need more and want to give away on the side walk today. Once a year (or twice, I am not familiar with the rules) the municipality send trucks by the districts of Budapest collecting all the useless, waste, demolition and every sort of crap that the people accumulate in their houses is let outside.

The result?

The downtown streets are full of rubish on the side walk waiting to be collected. Sofa, clothes, papers, wood, doors, bed, mattress, bikes, chairs, lamps…  everything! there was even a door of a crashed red car standing one block from my house… I can´t help trying to guess where (and why) the owner stored this thing … only God knows…

But while the truck doesn´t come, also there is an opportunity to some people collect things that might be useful and precious for them! it is like a garage sale open air and free of charge!

This is good. Little messy but still very good! everybody knows that is time to clean up and get ready to the spring knocking at the door!

I wonder what the tourists think about this ugly stuff destroying their dreamed pictures of our beautiful Budapest…

Anyway, this post has no picture for obvious reasons… 😉

It’s interesting Graziela! But…Why not the pictures? It must be shown exactly how it is! Its local traditions, isn’t it?

Hi Estela! I don´t want to show the city when is dirty and ugly. I like Budapest and I will advertise “her” other 364 days a year with my soul. But not the cleaning day!
